VETERAN'S BENEFITS FOR HEALTH

APPARENTLY THE NEW OBAMACARE LAW WILL AFFECT THE VA BENEFITS GIVEN TO ALL VETERANS WHO SERVED IN THE MILITARY. THOSE WHO WERE AWARDED FREE BENEFITS DUE TO A DISABILITY, WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE THEIR PRIVATE INSURANCE IF IT IS AVAILABLE. THIS INCLUDES SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY TREATMENTS, AS WELL AS NON SERVICE CONNECTED TREATMENTS. IT IS A COST SHIFT OF A MAJOR POLITICAL ISSUE BEING USED TO FORCE PRIVATE INSURANCES TO COVER MILITARY OBLIGATIONS FOR TREATMENT.

Veterans in State or Federal Prison

There are a considerable number of Veterans who have come in contact with law enforcement and committed a felony. This could be as a result of the post traumatic stress disorder that they may have, and not know it.
As a result there are a number of veterans who are presently serving time in our prison system today. It would be helpful if state statistics as well as federal be brought up to date to identify what number it is. With the budget cuts, the cost over runs in our state prisons, it may be more efficacious to treat the veterans in the VA system than to incarcerate them in the state prison system.
